Celebrate the best of Orkney tradition and heritage in storytelling and music, combined with an Island Platter or sumptuous 3 course meal of fresh Orkney Fayre.

Your evening of Orcadian Hospitality will take you on a journey back to past times - unfolding in story, the Pictish, Norse and Celtic Still Room Stromnessheritage of these North Atlantic islands.

Your host, Lynn Barbour, international storyteller, who has an association with the Orkney Islands that goes back more than thirty years, has been researching the legends, folklore and myths of Orkney and Scotland for many years.

As music has always been an integral part of island life, enjoy traditional Orkney music during your supper in the ambience of the Still Room Whisky bar at the Stromness Hotel.

We offer two options to suit your special evening in the Still Room Bar, catering from 6 persons to larger groups of up to 20. For groups of more than 20, the function room at the hotel will be used.

  • Option 1 - Taste of Orkney Platter (minimum number: 8 persons)
    A finger plater of Orkney Cheeses,
    Orkney bere bannocks and oatcakes,
    Roast beef, cured herring, crab and Orkney chutney.
    Your platter includes a glass of wine or refreshment on arrival

  • Option 2 - Orkney's Finest Fayre (minimum number: 6 persons)
    3 course meal offering a choice of four starters, main courses and deserts
    Sample Menu:
    Crab Meat Pancakes
    Roasted Orkney Lamb
    Orkney Fudge and Bailey's Cheesecake
    and a glass of wine/refreshment on arrival.

Cost per person will be from £25 to £37, all inclusive, depending on your requirements.
